I changed the address on my website… again.
I went back to “thesecompellingthings.com.” Thank you. Thank you, very much.
I shortened the address from “these compelling things” to simply “compelling things” a few months ago. One day, I had trouble telling someone what my address was. They didn’t understand what I was saying. Sometimes, those 21 letters can be a mouthful. That encounter got me thinking and I dropped the “these.” I figured this shorter address would be easier to say, easier to understand.
Be that as it may, I’m glad I went back to “these.” In the months (indeed, years) I’ve worked on this business of mine, I’ve had an almost pathological desire to do things right. I spend a lot of time making good pots, a lot of time on nearly every aspect of this thing. From production and documentation, to branding and marketing, I have to be patient, believing the time I spend to do things the right way will be worth it in the end. I think my address deserves the same courtesy. So, when asked, I should take that extra second to clearly and proudly state my full address. No short cuts.
None of this probably matters to anyone else but me. Since I made this decision, though, I feel better. I’m proud of what I do. I might as well be all-in, 21 letters at a time. My name is Erik and my web address is thesecompellingthings.com. Thank you. ∆
